In July, the first trial run was carried out on the route.

The 12.5-kilometre route links the Nhon area and Hanoi Station in Dong Da District, including 8.5 kilometres of elevated and four kilometres underground. The project has 10 trains imported from France. Each train with four carriages can transport up to 1,124 people.

Hanoi planned to put the elevated section into operation by the end of this year and the whole remaining section by late 2022. However, the construction pace has been slowed down due to Covid-19.

Hanoi Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung recently urged contractors to speed up the project to operate the elevated section next year.
