
According to the ministry's report, one of the new patients is a 56-year-old woman who returned from Sweden to Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi on March 9. She was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on March 11. The patient is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
Two other patients include a 59-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man who returned from the US to Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on March 10. They were sent to a quarantine area in Binh Duong Province upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 the same day. The two patients are being treated at the Binh Duong Provincial General Hospital.
The last patient is a 28-year-old man who returned from the Philippines to Cam Ranh Airport on March 7. He was sent to a quarantine area in Ninh Thuan Province upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on March 10. The patient is being treated at the Ninh Thuan Provincial General Hospital.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,533, including 895 locally-transmitted cases reported since the new outbreak started in Hai Duong on January 28. Hai Duong Province alone has recorded 711 cases.
As of 6 pm on March 11, a total of 2,048 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
At present, as many as 44,540 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
