Rystaev Ilgis (centre) arrives at the Nam Nha Trang Ward police station to receive his wallet on July 7.
The wallet contained nearly VND 80 million (approximately USD 3,140) in cash, along with important personal documents.
At around midday on July 4, Nguyen Thi Yen, a 43-year-old resident, discovered a brown leather wallet lying on the street. Inside were identification documents and a large sum of cash. She brought the wallet to the Nam Nha Trang Ward police.
Officers promptly launched efforts to identify the wallet’s owner. By 2 pm that afternoon, they were able to contact Ilgis, who had already reported the loss earlier that day.

Ilgis confirmed he had lost the wallet that morning, which contained a substantial amount of money and key personal documents. Upon being reunited with his belongings, he expressed profound gratitude to both the good samaritan and the local police.
“I was stunned and moved by the kindness of the Vietnamese people and the professionalism of the police,” he said. “I had thought I would never see my wallet again.”
