Four Central Highlands provinces finally experienced rain

Tran Trung Thanh, deputy director of Central Highlands' Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said rains had fallen in Kon Tum and some districts in Gia Lai Province on April 17.

Kon Tum City had highest amount of rainfall with 17mm, while Kon Plong District experienced just 3.2mm. Dak Doa District had 18.8mm of rainfall in Gia Lai Province. While Pleiku City had just 0.7mm. Rains have continued to fall and Ea H’leo District in Dak Lak Province experienced 53mm of rainfall.

However, Thanh added that the amount of rainfall was too small and only a quarter of the Central Highlands had benefited. Some severely-affected districts such as Ia Grai and Chu Prong did not experience any rain and the amount of damaged crops has continued increasing.

A hail storm with strong winds in Ia Rsai Commune on April 17 also unroofed 50 houses and caused damage estimated in the hundreds of millions of VND.
