First aircraft maintenance joint venture in Vietnam set up

Vietnam Singapore Technologies Engineering Aerospace was officially established on September 26, a joint venture between ST Engineering Aerospace and Vietnam Airlines Engineering.

Vietnam Singapore Technologies Engineering Aerospace will operate at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports. The representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Science and Technology and the Committee for Management of State Capital attended the ceremony.

Vietnam Singapore Technologies Engineering Aerospace will provide maintenance and repair services to all domestic and foreign airlines with modern equipment. The establishment is a follow of a memorandum of understanding announced by ST Engineering Aerospace and VAECO in April 2018.

Vietnam Airlines will have a chance for modern technology transferring and further training for a skilled workforce.

Director of Vietnam Airlines Duong Tri Thanh said, "ST Engineering Aerospace is one of the world's biggest aircraft maintenance corporations. We believe that this co-operation will bring benefits to both parties and open more opportunities."

Lim Serh Ghee, chairman of ST Engineering Aerospace, said Asia was their key market and they were glad to be able to work with Vietnam Airlines.
