Families of 22 missing crewmen who served on the sunk Vinalines Queen will receive VND300million (USD14,261) in compensation and life insurance.

Nguyen Ngoc Long, Deputy General Director of Vietnam National Shipping Corporation (Vinalines) said that the corporation had advanced VND300million (USD14,261) in compensation to the families of missing crew members. Life insurance will also be paid after the Vietnam Maritime Administration complete their investigation.
The maximum insurance for each crew member is USD40,000. Vinalines will also receive complete insurance for the ship and civil liability.
Vinalines Queen with 23 crewmen on board sank off the Philippine province of Batanes at around 7 am on December 25, 2011. It was transporting 54,000 tonnes of nickel ore from Indonesia to China. Only one seaman was rescued by British flagged ship, the London Courage, on December 30, 2011. The rest of the crew have yet to be found. Ships passing where the Vinalines Queen sank are continuing to look for missing crew members.
