DTiNews readers support flood-hit households on Phu Quoc

Dantri/DTiNews readers have donated a total VND42 million (USD1,826) to 14 households which have been hardest-hit by recent floods.

On Thursday, Journalist Phan Huy, head of the newspaper’s representative office in the Mekong Delta granted VND3 million to each local household.

Cao Thi Ngoc Thinh, saw her house totally ruined by the floods, causing her family numerous difficulties.

Huynh Thi Tui in Dong Duong Town expressed her great thanks to the support. She is taking care of three grandchildren who are orphans.

“Following the floods, the newspaper called on the community to assist affected people in Phu Quoc. The donation remains modest, but is expected to partially help ease their difficulties,” Huy said.

The VND42-milion donation given to the flood-hit households 

According to Huynh Hong Thanh, vice chairman of Dong Duong Town, earlier, many local households were supported by donors. He thanked DTiNews readers for the help.

Around 5,500 households and a large area of crops along with poultry in Phu Quoc District were submerged in the historic floods in August, resulting in a total loss of VND70 billion (USD3 million).
