On October 21 alone, the office recieved donations worth over VND60 million (USD3,000) from local individuals and organisations.

In the late evening of October 20, a reader came to the representative office to give VND50 million (USD2,500) to the flood zone. The donor had saved this amount for her small family but she decided to contribute it to people whose lives were devastated by floods as her heart was moved by the sadness others were facing.

Many retired cadres set aside half of their monthly salary for the same purpose and declined to provide their names saying, “This should be done by every Vietnamese person in the spirit of solidarity.”

A mother took her daughter of less than one year to the office, bringing with them a terra-cotta pig for saving. They collected VND233,500 (USD11.67) in all from the pig for the donation.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong in Binh Thanh District offered three bags of old clothes and two boxes of milk to the flood victims.
