Dozens of hand grenades retrieved from Da River

As many as 32 hand grenades have been recovered from the section of the Da River that runs through the northern province of Hoa Binh.

Hoa Binh Military Command has been conducting explosive ordnance clearance along the lower stretch of the Da River, from the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant in Tan Thinh Ward to Thong Nhat Bridge, Hoa Binh City, since May 7.

During the operation, they detected and collected 32 unexploded hand grenades on the riverbed of the Da River.

All recovered explosives were in an extremely dangerous state, with safety mechanisms disabled and detonators activated, posing a high risk of explosion.

The Hoa Binh Military Command then transported these grenades to a designated disposal site for detonation.

The military also used specialised equipment to search for underwater explosive remnants at depths of 5 to 6 metres.
