According to Nguyen Ba Loi, the province Party Secretary, Luu Van Thanh, vice chairman of Hon Quan District People’s Council, has been suspended since April 10 for refusing to have a temperature check for Covid-19 prevention and use of foul language towards medical staff.

Thanh’s behaviour was shown in a short clip posted on social media on April 3. In the video, when Thanh was driving his car, he was stopped by medical workers at a Covid-19 quarantine station in Binh Long Town for a temperature check.
Thanh got out of the car but did not wear a mask. When being asked for the temperature measurement, Thanh disagreed, saying that why he was forced to do this, while many others were not.
He then swore at medical staff at the station and confronted them. He even asked them to indicate the decision for the station setup and questioned every staff’s name and workplace.
"Given the great efforts of the country to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Thanh overstepped the regulations. Local authorities have considered punishment for him and the decision will be announced to the public,” Loi added.
