Nong Van Huan, chairman of Ngoc Chan Commune, said that every May, people in Suoi Hoc Village face flash floods. Meanwhile, the current bridge is the only way to connect 456 local residents to the outside world. All of the people in the village belong to the Tay ethnic minority.

However, the bridge is now in very bad condition. It has been temporarily consolidated but continues to pose dangers for people. It could be swept away by flash floods at any time.
In the flooding season, the village is often isolated, so around 209 local students have to stay at home.
Trieu Tien Thinh, head of Yen Bai Province’s Study Promotion Association, hoped that donors could support the villagers.
