The donation came after an article about the two children Duong My Nhat Vy, 10, and Duong The Vinh, 8, from Loc Ha District’s Hong Loc Commune was published in the newspaper.
VND158.3 million was donated through the newspaper’s Charity Programme, while the remainder was through the Vietnam Study Promotion Fund.
The donation was granted to the family
The children’s father, Duong Van Lien, died last year in a traffic accident. Meanwhile, their mother Nguyen Thi Ha Trang, 31, has been paralysed and suffered amnesia since the accident.
Doctors said that Trang needs surgery for her injured leg. The surgery will be conducted when her health is better.
Every day after leaving school, Nhat Vy and The Vinh come back home to assist their mother.
Le Viet Binh, chairman of Hong Loc Commune, said that Trang’s family is the poorest in the locality. Her husband died, while she is disabled. Binh hoped that donors could support them.
