The donation came after an article about Tran Dinh Luan’s family in Y Yen District was published in the newspaper.

Luan and his daughter
Of the total, around VND67 million were donated through the newspaper, with the remainder paid through Luan’s bank account.
Luan’s wife, Trinh Thi Luu said he was diagnosed with the disease while they were working in the southern region. When his condition worsened, the family decided to return to their hometown in Nam Dinh to live.
However, since then, Luu has still failed to find a job as many businesses had suspended operations.
The couple and their two children, one aged 11 and the other aged 9, live with Luan’s parents.
Local authorities have called on local people to provide assistance for Luan, however, this had proved modest, said Mai Tien Quynh, head of An Thanh Village.
