Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper starts construction of a new school dormitory in a remote area in the central province of Nghe An on May 19.
Construction started on May 19 at Mai Son Boarding Primary and Secondary School in Tuong Duong District where nearly 100 students are staying.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Deputy Editor-In-Chief of Dantri/Dtinews Nguyen Xuan Toan expressed thanks to the Giao Hang Tiet Kiem Company for their donations to the project.

"This is the 42 school projects carried out by Dantri/Dtinews and donors nationwide," Toan said. "We hope that the project will help improve living and studying conditions for students in difficult areas."
Earlier on May 10, the Giao Hang Tiet Kiem Company visited Dantri/Dtinews in Hanoi to offer more than VND 870 million (USD 37,826) to help build the new school dormitory after the story about 80 students suffering poor boarding facilities was published by the newspaper.
Mai Son Boarding Primary and Secondary School is located around 10 kilometres from the communal centre. Most of the students are from Thai, Kho Mu and Mong ethnic groups who have to stay at the school due to the long distance from home and difficult mountainous roads.
The school has upgraded a store into a day-boarding room. Due to financial difficulties, the school mobilised children’s parents to use bamboo to make beds for the room.

The school also lacks five classrooms and equipment for day-boarding rooms.
Attending the ceremony, vice-chairman of Tuong Duong District People's Committee, Lo Thanh Nhat, said that he was very happy that local children would have a proper boarding facility.
