Construction on a Paracel Island Exhibition House kicked off in Son Tra District in the central city of Danang on December 7.
According to Paracel Islands District People’s Committee Chairman Vo Cong Chanh the VND40-billion (USD1.9 million) complex will cover 1,296 square metres. The three-floor house is expected to come into operation by the end of 2016.

The house will showcase maps, artefacts, photos, historical and legal materials and videos which recognise Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Paracel Islands.
The works will be displayed in topics, including the geographical location and natural condition of Paracel Islands; Western and Chinese documents proving Vietnam’s sovereignty to the islands; Vietnam’s sovereignty to the islands during the 1858-1954 and 1954 and 1974 periods and the Paracels and historical witnesses.
Chanh said entry would be free, and it was intended to promote knowledge about the archipelago.
