The lockdown on the residential area near New Phuong Dong Bar in Hai Chau District was lifted on Thursday midnight. The area was isolated for 21 days due to Covid-19 locally-infected cases.

The locals, including the police and medical workers, expressed their great joy following the end of the lockdown. They clapped their hands and sang a song about the Vietnamese people’s unity to fight against Covid-19.

Phan Van Quy, 34, said that people were very worried about Covid-19 infections in the area, but the situation has been brought under control. "We are so happy, like the feeling of welcoming a New Year. Never before have we stayed at home for such a long time,” Phuc added.

Truong Thanh Dung, vice chairman of Hai Chau District People’s Committee, said that the residents had to stay at home for seven days to ensure safety as regulated.

People wore a face mask and kept a safe distance when celebrating the lockdown removal.
