Under a decision signed by the Minister of Construction, Tam Thanh Station, located in Tay Ho Commune, has been brought into service on the North-South railway route.
The station has three reception and departure tracks, including the 508-metre mainline track No. 2 and two station tracks, each 477 metres long.

Classed as a grade-three civil structure, the station is designed to handle passenger trains and through-freight services, as well as train passing and overtaking, while providing supporting transport services.
The station building covers 375 square metres, with an additional 285-square-metre accommodation block for transport, track and signalling staff.
Tam Thanh Station is part of package No. 8 of a project to reinforce weak tunnels, open new stations and upgrade above-track infrastructure on the Vinh-Nha Trang section of the North–South railway.
The project began in 2021 with a total investment of VND 276 billion (USD 11 million). Although scheduled for completion in 2023, it was delayed and has only now been completed and put into use.
The new station is located about three kilometres from An My Station and is expected to replace An My, which has deteriorated and is currently used mainly for freight services.
