In the third quarter of this year, the investor will call for the tender for the project. If procedures are completed as expected, the project will be kicked off at the beginning of 2022.

The project is expected to be put into operation in 2023.

Of the project’s total investment, USD121.2 million is from the World Bank’s ODA, while the remainder is from the city’s reciprocal capital.

The route is 26 kilometres long, running along Vo Van Kiet-Mai Chi Tho Avenue. It begins from An Lac roundabout in Binh Tan District and Rach Chiec Station in Thu Duc City. It is also connected to the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro route and the new Mien Tay Station in Binh Chanh District which is still under construction.

After being put into use, the BRT project would use 42 compressed natural gas buses which can accommodate 60-72 passengers each. The buses can travel at 60km per hour.

There will be around 28 stops on the route.
