Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has emphasized the need to raise public awareness of nuclear power development in Vietnam.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is assigned to carry out a VND200 billion communications project on nuclear power development in accordance with the approval.
The focus of communications work will be on the positive effects of nuclear power development and infrastructure construction on socio-economic developments in the country.
In the case of Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power project, migration, resettlement and human resources training should be brought into consideration.
The public should be fully informed about the nuclear power development, radioactive waste management and treatment and State policy.
A public relations centre will be set up by the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to explain to local people who are concerned about the operations in future.
The PM has also asked Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), Vietnam Television (VTV), provincial radio and television stations and mass media to cover the construction of Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant as part of the country’s nuclear power development program in the coming period until 2030.
