The hotel where the accident occurs
Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Department, Nguyen Xuan Binh, confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that the female Chinese tourist had died at the Open Hotel in My An Ward in Ngu Hanh Son District.
A report from local police said that the tourist died from a fall when using the lift at the hotel on May 28.
The body was found at the bottom of the lift shaft on May 30 when the hotel's staff noticed a foul smell in the area.
Binh said that the family of the tourist have arrived in Danang to receive the body for cremation. They have also negotiated compensation with the hotel.
The police will announce the cause of the accident on June 6.
