According to the Quang Ninh Department of Industry and Trade, currently, many trucks transporting Vietnamese goods are still stranded at Dongxing Border Gate waiting for customs clearance.
The customs clearance has also been halted at some Chinese border gates which are next to the northern province of Lang Son due to China’s tighter inspections on imports as a Covid-19 prevention measure.
Ho Tien Thieu, chairman of Lang Son People’s Committee, said this situation has been lasting for around 15 days. By December 21, up to 4,461 trucks had been stuck at Lang Son border gates. The delay has affected the quality of many farm products, so many drivers had to bring their loads back for domestic sale.
