Authorities in the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho will pilot a pedestrian area in Ninh Kieu District starting April 30.

According to the Ninh Kieu District People's Committee, the pedestrian area will be held around some streets including Hai Ba Trung, Ngo Quyen, Nguyen An Ninh, Thu Khoa Huan near the Ninh Kieu Wharf.
Southern region-style music performances, folk games and cultural shows would be staged along the streets, apart from shopping and dining stalls.
According to vice chairman of Ninh Kieu District People’s Committee, Nguyen Ngoc Anh, the opening of the pedestrian streets is expected to attract more tourists to the area.
"The pedestrian streets are scheduled to become operational on the coming occasion of Reunification Day on April 30, '' the official said. "The area will be open every Saturday evening during the pilot period and may be extended to Sunday after that."
