According to the fund, the pandemic has seriously hit the country’s economic development and social security.
By June 8, around 7,000 children in 26 cities and provinces had been directly affected by Covid-19. The figure would rise to 42,000 by the end of this year. Many children have been infected with Covid-19 or have to be sent to quarantine sites due to the pandemic.
On May 29, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, who also acts as NFVC vice-chairman, decided to fully cover the food costs of children with Covid-19 and those having had close contact with Covid-19 patients and were now under mandatory quarantine from April 27 to December 31. The fund will provide each child with VND80,000 (USD3.47) per day.
The fund has also provided an additional VND1 billion (USD43,600) to Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Dien Bien each to fight the pandemic.
The fund’s Goodwill Ambassador, actor Xuan Bac, will join the fundraising campaign from June 1 to July 31. Donations can be cash, non-cash items or services.
The donations will be published weekly on the fund’s website available at www.nfvc.vn.
