CAAV warns airlines over early ticket selling

The CAAV has sent official documents to Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines to stop selling tickets.

In early September, CAAV gathered opinions to reopen domestic flight routes while fighting Covid-19. According to the CAAV, the number of passengers from green to other zones will not be limited. Flights from yellow and red zones to other zones will only serve state employees and frontline workers. All passengers must be tested negative for Covid-19 72 hours before departure. They must also have been fully vaccinated and quarantined.

However, the Ministry of Transport is still drafting a detailed travel plan for all transport modes including aviation, maritime, railway, inland waterways, and road while provinces and cities ease social distancing rules.

According to the proposed plan, in the first phase, the number of flights must be less than 50 percent of the number of flights in the first 10 days of April, before the fourth Covid-19 wave broke out in late April.

The number of flights in the second phase will be less than 70 percent of the number of flights in the first 10 days of April. In the third phase, the number of flights must not exceed the total flights in the first 10 days of April. All activities will return to normal in the fourth phase. Each phase will last for 10 days.

Since the fourth Covid-19 outbreak broke out, many city and provincial authorities have issued a travel ban so the Ministry of Transport is still reviewing and working with each province and city to lift the ban.

According to the ministry, they hope to reopen the domestic flight routes soon in provinces and cities that have lifted all social distancing rules and even in areas that still have some parts under social distancing in order to recover the economy.
