It will be cold with a chance of showers on New Year Eve in the northeastern part of Vietnam while weather will be cool in the highlands and the south.

Today, December 31, the temperature in the North will reach 18C degrees however, partly cloudy skies and showers cause it to feel cooler according to the National Center for Hydro Meteorological forecasting.

Despite rainy and cold weather, many people want to welcome a New Year on streets

The rainy and cold weather will last until January 2-3, 2010 in the northeastern region. Temperatures during the day should be around 17-20C degrees and 10-13C degrees at nights, according to Le Thanh Hai, Deputy Manager of the National Center for Hydro Meteorological forecasting.

In the northwest (Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La…) the weather will be sunny during the day with temperatures around 20-23C degrees but only 7-10C degrees at night.
The central area also will have partly cloudy skies with showers and cold weather, especially in the central areas. The temperature will be 21-24C degrees during the day and 7-20C degree at night.

In the next 4-5 days, the weather in the highlands and the south will be windy and mostly sunny with no rain. It will be very cool weather for picnics and outdoor activities during the New Year holiday.
