The public have donated VND2.3 billion (USD 100,000) to a family in the central province of Ha Tinh which lost a father to serious burns and left a son severely injured after a fire.
The incident happened to Luong Huu Tue’s family on November 9 when he and his two sons Luong Hoang Bach, 2, and Luong Son Tung, 8, were sleeping at noon. The fire suddenly broke out in their room. Tue quickly took Bach out of the room and then rushed into the room again to save Tung. He tightly held Tung to protect him from the fire, leaving the father badly injured.

According to Dr Ngo Tuan Hung, the burns affected up to 83 percent of the father’s body. He had to use a ventilator. His son Tung experienced burns to over 30 percent of his body.
Without health insurance, Tue and his son’s treatment fees were around VND20-30 million per day. Tue died on November 22.

The donation for the family has reached VND2.3 billion in total, including VND568 million contributed through Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper. On Thursday, the newspaper granted VND568 million for the family.
