The programme, which was carried out following the call from Vietnam Bombs and Mines Action Support Association and the Vietnam Fund for Peace and Development, covered 43 victims of poor and near-poverty households.

Among those, 40 were given cows worth VND12 million (USD521.73) each, while the three others were given with the housing assistance of VND50 million (USD2,173).

Up to 225 hectares in the province are affected by bombs and mines.
It is estimated that about 800,000 tonnes of unexploded ordnance (UXOs) were left across the country after the war ended in 1975, mostly in the central region. Some 6.13 million hectares of land is potentially polluted with UXOs, accounting for 18.82% of the country’s total area.
