Among those, 40 were given cows worth VND12 million (USD521.73) each, while the three others were given with the housing assistance of VND50 million (USD2,173).

The provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Association for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities presented gifts for five local Heroic Mothers.

Up to 225 hectares in the province are affected by bombs and mines.

It is estimated that about 800,000 tonnes of unexploded ordnance (UXOs) were left across the country after the war ended in 1975, mostly in the central region. Some 6.13 million hectares of land is potentially polluted with UXOs, accounting for 18.82% of the country’s total area.
