By 9 a.m April 21, rescue teams had recovered the last of the four bodies following a 20-hour search.
The victim bodies, including three men and a woman, were found at a depth of 15-metres, some 30 metres from the capsized boat.
At around 1:30pm on the afternoon of April 20, three 28-year old men, Tran Quoc Dien, Nguyen Van Phuong and Tran Thanh Phuong, along with a 26-year old woman, Tran Thi Thu Ha, hired Nguyen Hai Quang, 25, to take them across the Vam Co Dong River in Chau Thanh District on his motorised boat.
When the boat was about three-quarters of the way across, the four passengers caused the boat to overturn while playing with one another. Only the boat's owner managed to get safely to the shore.
The People’s Committee of Chau Thanh District has provided support of VND2 million (USD95.2) to the family of each victim.
