Dragon fruit is among Vietnam's major farm produce exports
Vietnam’s agro forestry fishery exports earned an estimated USD 64.01 billion in the period, up 12.6 per cent year on year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
Asia accounted for 45.1 per cent of total export value, followed by the Americas at 22.8 per cent and Europe at 13.4 per cent. Africa made up 2.8 per cent and Oceania 1.4 per cent.
China remains Vietnam’s biggest buyer of farm goods, taking about 22 per cent of agricultural exports. Shipments to China rose 14.8 per cent over the past 11 months, while exports to the United States grew 6.1 per cent.
Vietnam also benefits from an extensive network of Asian free trade agreements, including RCEP, ACFTA, CPTPP and other ASEAN plus accords. Preferential tariffs give Vietnamese goods easier access to Asian markets than those with fewer FTAs, such as the United States.
Many Asian countries also consume similar food products to Vietnam, including rice, pangasius, shrimp, cashews and pepper, helping Vietnamese goods gain wider acceptance among regional consumers.
