Those who will attend the event include government officials, researchers, non-governmental organizations, private sector business associations and consumer protection associations.
According to a press release by the ASEAN Secretariat, the online consumer market has developed remarkably and brought about huge benefits to the national economy and consumers in recent times.
However, the sheer volume of e-commerce transactions and rapidly changing technology have also posed a number of challenges. The regional bloc has organized the first consumer protection conference aiming to address these obstacles.
At the event, experts and concerned parties will debate issues relating to financial transactions, product safety, and e-commerce and build mechanisms to protect consumers and devise orientations for consumption in the future.
