A poor family with three ill members in Hanoi have received over VND200 million (USD8,696) from kind donors after their story was shared on Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper.

A reporter of Dantri/Dtinews visited the family of Vuong Thi Lien in Thuong Tin District on March 30 to hand over the financial donation of VND137,758,222 that readers had sent to the newspaper's charity fund to support the family.
The 55-year-old woman said that she had also received over VND60 million from donors who had sent money to her bank account.
"I want to express my sincere thanks to all the valuable support from kind donors to my family," Lien said. "Thanks to your support, my husband and children have been able to continue their medical treatment."
Lien’s husband, who is 50 years old, is suffering from tuberculosis. The cold weather has worsened his condition. He has faced hemoptysis at his workplace several times.

Her 12-year-old child, Nguyen Van Thang, is living with autism. He often becomes angry without any reason. He is frightened of meeting strangers. Due to the family’s financial difficulties, the boy’s treatment has been suspended. So his condition has worsened.
The boy often hurts himself, so Lien has had to tie his hands and legs.
Meanwhile, Lien’s eldest son Nguyen Van Bien, 32, has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer since late 2021. The woman has had to borrow money from different sources for her son’s surgery.
Lien has modest income from working at a local slaughterhouse. The family has faced financial difficulties since the husband and children developed health problems.
