The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment said it had ordered stronger measures against ASF, avian influenza and foot-and-mouth disease under its 2026-2030 disease control plan.
According to official data, two new ASF outbreaks were detected in Da Teh 2 and Duc An communes between May 27 and June 3. Authorities subsequently culled 959 pigs weighing nearly 52 tonnes to prevent the disease from spreading.
Since the start of 2026, a total of 14,077 pigs weighing more than 700 tonnes have been destroyed across the province due to ASF infections.
The disease has been reported in nine localities. Four communes Da Teh, Ta Hine, Duc Linh and Duc An remain under monitoring, having not yet passed 21 days since their most recent outbreaks.
In response, the department has instructed local authorities to strengthen surveillance of livestock herds, ensure vaccination programmes are carried out and tighten controls on the transport, trading and slaughter of animals and animal products.
The measures aim to contain the spread of infectious livestock diseases and minimise economic losses for farmers.
