Additional 466 Covid-19 cases confirmed, mostly in southern localities

Vietnam recorded 466 new Covid-19 patients in the last 12 hours as of 6 am on Tuesday, mostly in southern localities, according to the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam recorded 466 new Covid-19 patients in the last 12 hours as of 6 am on Tuesday, mostly in southern localities, according to the Ministry of Health.

Among the cases, one was from abroad and the others were local infections with 416 detected in quarantined and locked down areas. 

Out of the locally-infected patients, HCM City accounted for 365, followed by Long An (52), Vinh Long (23), Dong Nai (12), Phu Yen (7), Tay Ninh (5) and Hanoi (1).

Forty-nine cases in the southern region are still under epidemic investigations to identify infection causes, consisting of 29 in HCM City, 17 in Long An and three in Dong Nai.

As of 6 am, Vietnam logged 30,724 local infections and 1,941 others from abroad. Since April 27, the country has reported 29,154 locally-transmitted Covid-19 cases.

Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Ninh Binh, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Hai Duong, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh and Hoa Binh have gone through 14 days without detecting any new local infections.

The nation has announced 125 Covid-19-related deaths, while 9,331 have been given the all-clear from Covid-19.

As many as 4,063,872 doses of Covid-19 vaccines had been administered to people in priority groups, including 280,367 fully receiving two jabs.
