Vietnam on Monday confirmed additional 12,012 Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to over 10.47 million, according to the Ministry of Health.
Most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 61 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (1,109), Yen Bai (715), Phu Tho (700), Nghe An (638), and Vinh Phuc (616).
As of Monday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10,475,819. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,534,767), HCM City (606,963), Nghe An (476,612), Binh Duong (382,811), and Bac Giang (380,590).
On April 18, an additional 4,218 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 8,941,064.
On Monday evening, a further 13 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,957. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Dong Nai (2), Quang Nam (2), Tra Vinh (2), Bac Giang (1), Binh Dinh (1), Can Tho (1), Dong Thap (1), Gia Lai (1), Hai Duong (1), and Quang Ngai (1).
Vietnam on April 17 administered 154,660 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 209.63 million.
