Vietnam confirmed an additional 120,000 Covid-19 infections on Thursday, a fall of 7,886 cases compared to yesterday's figure, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (12,485), Dak Lak (4,463), Bac Ninh (4,292), Phu Tho (4,277), and Nghe An (4,184).
As of Thursday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 8,599,751. The country now stands 14th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,229,590), HCM City (588,151), Binh Duong (367,835), Nghe An (364,680), and Hai Duong (329,557).
On March 24, an additional 164,754 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 4,826,024.
On Thursday evening, a further 70 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,145. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Dong Nai (10), Ca Mau (6), Hanoi (5), Kien Giang (5), Gia Lai (4), and Phu Yen (4).
Vietnam on March 23 administered 1,077,314 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 204.22 million.
