A big bomb weighing 750 pounds or over 330 kilos has just been found in the central province of Quang Binh.

A 343-kilo and 1.2-metre M117 bomb is unearthed in Quang Binh Province in March 2019
According to the Truong Xuan Communal People's Committee, the bomb was discovered by workers while fixing the national 500KV power grid by the Long Dai River.
The worker reported their finding to local authorities who are co-operating with the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) to study and deal with the bomb. Local authorities said that the bomb was left from the American War.
The area has been blocked off to ensure safety for local people and allow the investigation.
In March, MAG successfully removed a large bomb found in Quan Hau Town, Quang Ninh District. The 343-kilo and 1.2-metre bomb was unearthed when a resident dug the foundations for a house.
The specialists recognised it was a 750lb general-purpose M117 bomb used by the US Army during the war. After being excavated and defused, the bomb is now being stored in Bo Trach District.
Investigations carried out by the Vietnam National Mine Action Centre on the two central provinces of Quang Binh and Binh Dinh found 4,600ha of land affected by unexploded devices.
Quang Binh itself has 225,000ha alone affected, occupying 30 percent of the province’s total area.
Earlier this year, South Korea donated 200 explosive detectors which would be used for a project on reducing the impact of unexploded devices left over from the war in Quang Binh.
Commenced in March last year, the project is run by the UN Development Programme, the Korea International Co-operation Agency and Vietnamese partners. Along with the tasks in bomb clearance, the project aims to assist development in the areas with most unexploded devices.
