The Ministry of Construction has asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to co-operate in the inspection of a collapsed 500kv-electric pylon in the northern province of Bac Giang.
According to the initial information from the National Power Transmission Corporation, gale force winds caused the collapse of the electric pylon in Yen Dung District on April 22. Luckily, the incident happened in a field and an automatic circuit breaker help to prevent damage.

Nguyen Tuan Tung, Deputy Director of the corporation, said that the line of pylons were erected in July 2014 with a total investment of VND2.3 trillion (USD120 million).
Public concerns were raised in the past that the pylons were badly constructed, some people cited how no nearby trees had been blown down despite the strong wind.
Design problems at the pylon foundations had earlier been detected which the corporation had to fix. According to several local construction experts, this may be one of the reasons for the pylon’s collapse.
Tung said that his corporation has instructed its workers to work 24-hours to complete the repairs as soon as possible.
