According to provincial authorities, the Indian cultural space was established to promote cultural cooperation, educational exchange and people to people connections between Vietnam and India.

The facility is also intended to meet growing public demand, particularly among students, for information and research materials about Indian history, culture and society.

The Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City supported the project by providing equipment and 100 books covering India’s history, culture, people and development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Minh, vice chair of the Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee, acknowledged the support and cooperation provided by the Indian consulate during the development of the cultural space.

Minh said the facility would diversify the information resources available at the provincial library, helping residents and students gain greater access to international cultural materials while also serving as a bridge for cultural exchange between Lam Dong Province and India.

Vipra Pandey, consul general of India in Ho Chi Minh City, said Vietnam and India share a long standing friendship with close ties in culture, education and people to people exchanges.

According to Pandey, the establishment of the Indian cultural space at the Lam Dong provincial library would contribute to deeper cultural understanding and stronger friendship between the people of the two countries.

The Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it would continue cooperating with the Indian consulate to organise cultural exchange activities, exhibitions and programmes introducing Indian culture to local residents across the province.
