A 330kg wartime bomb is found by the Ea Hiao Stream in Dak Lak Province.
Local authorities said the device was discovered earlier by a 40-year-old resident, Nay Y Luy, who noticed a large metal object emerging from the ground while fishing in the Ea Hiao Stream. Suspecting it was an unexploded bomb, he reported the find to officials.
Following the report, the Ea Hiao Commune Military Command arrived at the site and secured the area. Initial checks showed the bomb was exposed about 60cm above ground on the stream bank, close to local farmland.
To ensure safety, warning signs were erected, guards were deployed and residents were informed not to approach the area.
According to the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command, the bomb was manufactured in the United States and left behind after the war. It is about 1.2 metres long and weighs 334kg, having remained buried underground for decades.
Specialists assessed that the fuse and explosive content still posed a serious risk if subjected to external impact.
The bomb was subsequently moved to a safe location away from residential areas and destroyed in line with technical safety procedures.
