200-kg old bomb seized in Dak Nong from seller

Authorities of the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong have seized a 200-kilo bomb while it was being transported for sale.

Authorities of the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong have seized a 200-kilo bomb while it was being transported for sale.

On April 29, Dao Van Lam in Quang Truc Commune, Tuy Duc District found the 1.6-metre bomb with an intact fuse while digging the soil. The MK 82 bomb weighs 227 kilos, containing roughly 185kg explosives.

He did not inform local authorities of the find, but instead, put it on a trailer and tried to take it to sell.

After being reported by some local residents, authorities of Quang Truc Commune and Tuy Duc District’s Military Command stopped Lam and confiscated the bomb. The bomb was safely destroyed on May 11.

Police in the central province of Quang Tri recently detained a group of men for the attempted sale of a live 300 kg bomb. The American-made M177 bomb which had an intact fuse consisted of up to 185kg explosives.
