Nearly 15,000 people will join a march to celebrate the 60th anniversary of victory at Dien Bien Phu this May, according to the organising board.

15,000 people to parade to mark Dien Bien Phu Victory
Those marching will include military officers and various groups of workers, farmers, intellectuals and ethnic minorities. The parade will take place at Dien Bien Province Stadium and many local streets.
The militia and guerrilla forces of HCM City’s Cu Chi District, which represents the southern people who supported the efforts of the battle of Dien Bien Phu will also take part in the event.
The organising board added that many other activities will be held on this occasion, such as an incense offering ceremony at A1 martyrs' cemetery and a meeting on May 7.
On the evening of May 6, a music programme on the victory will be organised at Dien Bien Province’s square. After the show will be a fireworks display.
The chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Mua A Son, said that a 7-km road section will be renamed after Vo Nguyen Giap in commemoration of the legendary general.
Dien Bien Province is making the necessary preparations to welcome 3,000-4,000 visitors daily, he added.
The first phase of the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum, which costs a total of VND218 billion (USD1 million) will be also launched on the occasion. To date, the museum has collected 198 objects from local individuals and organisations.
