On October 3, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department said it had received 12 wild animals from Hiep Binh Ward.
The animals included a 12kg male pig-tailed macaque (Macaca leonina), which is listed in Group IIB of Vietnam's endangered, precious and rare forest animals.
The remaining animals comprised five turtles of different species and six peafowl.

The animals have been taken to the Cu Chi Wildlife Rescue Station for care. Once they have recovered, authorities will establish state ownership and approve plans to release them back into their natural habitat.
According to the Hiep Binh Ward People's Committee, the animals had been handed over to local authorities by residents in recent months.
The transfer to specialised wildlife authorities will help ensure proper rescue, care and conservation while reducing the risk of illegal hunting, captivity, trading and exploitation.
