On November 1, Nguyen Manh, 55, and six other fishermen in Ly Son District found the fishing boat some 30 nautical miles from Ly Son Island. They quickly towed the boat to the shore and reported it to local authorities.

The fishing boat's engine was broken, but some items, including plastic baskets and electrical equipment, were left on board.
The boat is made of wood and measures about 15 metres in length and about 3.4 metres in width. On both sides of the bow, words suspected to be Chinese and the code 26056 are displayed.
Pham Thi Huong, the chairwoman of the Ly Son People's Committee, said that the police and the Border Guard are collaborating to investigate the boat's origin.
