
Despite the cold weather, many people gathered at some pedestrian streets in Hanoi’s Old Quarter to celebrate Christmas with their families and friends.


Anh Nguyet, 21, said that she and her sister came to Hang Ma to take some photos with the colourful Christmas decorations."We had some beautiful backgrounds for our photos here," Nguyet said. "We also found some nice decorative items sold good prices as this was the last Christmas shopping day."

Three streets leading to the St. Joseph's Cathedral were jammed with thousands of visitors.


The walking streets around Hoan Kiem Lake were also crowded.


In HCM City, some pedestrian streets in the central District 1, some shopping centres and the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon also received thousands of visitors on Christmas Eve.

Many people waited to take photos with the huge Christmas trees and beautiful decorations at the Diamond Plaza Shopping Centre. A music show was also organised at the location.

Serious congestion occurred on many streets including Le Duan, Dong Khoi, and Nguyen Hue.
