Hanoi People’s Committee have issued a dispatch to urge agencies and localities to tighten fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue efforts.
Under the committee’s instruction, every household is encouraged to have fire extinguishers and basic rescue tools and to ensure at least one member is trained in fire prevention and rescue skills.
According to the committee, it is important to boost communication activities to raise people’s awareness of fire safety regulations, escape skills, and safe use of electrical equipment.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has also instructed the establishment and expansion of community-based fire safety models, such as fire safety neighbourhood teams and public firefighting points.
Hanoi Power Corporation has been assigned to inspect the electrical system to ensure safe use in households and production facilities. Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is working with forest-covered districts and towns to implement forest fire prevention measures.
Earlier, the Hanoi Police Department proposed a plan to enhance the city's firefighting capacity, which includes installing water pipelines and fire hydrants in approximately 9,483 lanes and alleys across the capital.
