In 2006 they had made a surprise visit to Vietnam before adopting an orphan a year later and naming him Pax Thien.
Kim Thoa, director of the city’s Tam Binh orphanage from where the boy had been adopted, said she knew nothing about their current visit.
Jolie had not visited or got in touch with the orphanage since the adoption, she said.
The family visited Tokyo to promote Pitt’s Moneyball and possibly decided to bring Pax Thien home as they had promised earlier.
When they came in 2006 many passers-by took pictures of them on a motorcycle. The two began a relationship in 2005.
Their six children are twins Know Leon Jolie-Pitt and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt (born in 2008), Shiloh (born in 2006), Maddox (adopted in 2002), Zahara (adopted in 2005), and Pax.
