HCM City is experiencing prolonged hot weather

The prolonged hot weather in HCM City over recent days has been among the factors driving more people to seek treatment for heart problems. The extreme heat further presses on the heart, as dehydration via sweating and elevated temperatures can remarkably raise the heart rate. This may result in a higher risk of chest pain, irregular heartbeat, and heart failure.

People are advised to avoid outdoor activities between 10 am and 4 pm, the hottest time of the day. If they must go out, they should wear wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, protective gear, and light, breathable clothing.

Drinking enough water, controlling blood pressure and heart rate, and following a balanced diet and healthy routine is also essential.

The Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Centre reported that the sweltering weather in HCM City and other southern localities will persist. From now to the end of this month, the southern region will see more hot fronts with the highest temperature of 38 degrees Celsius.

On March 13, the highest temperature in HCM City reached nearly 40 degrees Celsius.
