The city has planned to upgrade Thu Le, Thong Nhat and Hoa Binh parks and the Hanoi Botanical Garden along with 41 parks and flower gardens during 2021-2025.
Hanoi has removed some fences around Thong Nhat Park in Dong Da District to make the park a freely accessible area.
Thong Nhat is the largest park in Hanoi, covering 50 hectares and bordered by Tran Nhan Tong, Le Duan, Dai Co Viet and Nguyen Dinh Chieu streets.
Thu Le Park in Ba Dinh District covers 28 hectares, including six hectares of ponds. It is home to many animals. Many facilities have deteriorated.
The fence around the park has become rusty. The elephant cage area has not yet been upgraded after being used for many years.
Hanoi Botanical Gardens are in the same condition with rusty fences and statues.
It is easy to see cracks in the pavements in the gardens.
The VND282 billion (USD11.28 million) Hoa Binh Park in Bac Tu Liem District was put into operation on October 10, 2010, and was the most modern park in Hanoi, however, it is largely underused.
Nghia Do Park in Cau Giay District is also declining.
The VND260 billion Hanoi Astronomy Park in Ha Dong District was scheduled to be put into use in 2020, but, due to the slow construction, was only recently opened.
