Also known as the Mother Carrying Child rock, Vong Phu is part of the An Hoach-Nui Nhoi scenic and artistic complex, now located in Dong Quang Ward.

The site has suffered repeated lightning strikes over the years, causing rockfalls and deep cracks.

In 2025, Thanh Hoa authorities approved funding to reinforce the formation. Construction involved drilling core holes and installing vertical steel bars secured with specialised grout to fill cracks and stabilise the structure.

Cracks previously seen near the summit have now been reinforced.

By early January, scaffolding and hoisting systems had been dismantled and no workers remained at the site. From a distance, the rock now appears noticeably whiter than its original natural colour.

Despite the investment, the surrounding area has yet to be upgraded. Loose soil and rocks remain scattered along paths on Nui Nhoi’s slopes, while a brick-built bunker-like structure at the foot of the rock continues to detract from the site’s appearance.

Stone-processing workshops operate nearby, generating constant noise, and access routes to the relic remain fenced off and overgrown.

The area remains has yet to be reopened to the public and visitors.
